Work party on Klapperkop Hills. Every third Saturday of the month.

What?
5km and 10km fun run and walk
1km for the young, old and not so fit

When?
Every first Saturday of the month at the Fountains Valley, Eeufees Rd, Pretoria
Time: 08h00
(For the early birds who can’t make it at 08h00, there is also an informal start between 06h30 and 7h00.)

Entry fee: R25 (same price for all events, all ages)

All participants who complete receive a collectors medal.
Water points are available on the route.

The money received is shared among the Fountains Valley Resort and the Nature Friends group that is helping on that day.

Weekend work parties - Klapperkop Hills (Groenkloof)

07h45 – 08h00 Friends gather @ Klapperkop Fort.
Enjoy coffee & tea.
8h00 : Work session 1. Area to be worked /cleaned is allocated by Nature Conservation Dept. (tools will also be provided by them)
9h15 : Break for cool drink and a 15 minute talk by Nature Conservation Dept about alien plants, its history, its effect on our reserve and long term solutions.
9h30-10h30: Work session 2.

Note that you don't need to attend both work sessions. You are welcome to join and depart at any time.

Weekend work parties are an ideal chance for the Friends to meet each other, get out and experience nature and above all to learn more. Come and help preserve our grasslands, our environment and our neighborhood.

You might ask what is a weekend work party?
It is where likeminded people come together to help eradicate alien invasive plants, assist with erosion control, pick up litter, maintain paths etc.

Why a weekend work party?
To help Nature Conservation Dept (and indirectly ourselves) preserve, rehabilitate and improve the grassland, where the plan is to stock game when the area has been fenced and grassland has reestablished itself again.
It gives us a chance to become involved in meaningful activities, and most importantly it must be fun.

We hope to make the work party a regular happening. We would like everyone to participate even if just to want lend some moral support. We have a very special koppie, botanically and historically, right in our backyard - come and experience it with us.
